No dorms, just homes for Christian community

On Move-In Day, returning students serve as expert movers to help incoming student families, easing the burden of unpacking by completing it in a matter of minutes.

Living Together: The Heart of Student Housing at Institute for GOD

“At Institute for GOD, how many roommates do I get?” “Wait, undergraduates live in actual houses?” Yes, our student housing is always a conversation starter. Right from the start, we’ve chosen a unique path for our dorm living, embracing a household model over the traditional dorm setup. Our undergraduates benefit from a full house, not just a single room, creating an environment that fosters lifelong friendships and practical life skills.

It’s not common that a student gets the opportunity to host in their college dorm. In Institute housing, our students pray, sing, cook, have movie nights, compete in video competitions, and more.

A Closer Look at Our Housing Approach

Our approach goes beyond just providing a place to stay. It’s about creating a vibrant Christian community where students can truly thrive. Living in these houses, students don’t just study and attend classes; they learn valuable life lessons in maintaining a home, from cooking and cleaning to managing finances and navigating interpersonal relationships.

One of our students, Olivia, surprised another housemate with healthy snacks ahead of final exams.

Deep Connections and Real-World Preparation

The experience of living with several roommates in a house offers more than just the chance to make friends. It’s a training ground for the real world, equipping our students with the skills they need for adult life. Alumni often tell us how these early experiences of community living have been instrumental in their personal and professional lives, providing a solid foundation for everything from ministry work to family life.

The Benefits of Our Student Housing

  • Fostering Deep Friendships: The connections made in our housing last a lifetime, supporting students through all of life’s stages.

  • Practical Life Skills: From weekly cleaning routines to cooking meals together, students learn how to manage a household effectively.

  • Christian Community Living: Our housing setup encourages students to live out their faith daily, supporting one another in their spiritual journeys.
